Learning Profile

In this class I remember reading about kids with reading problems. That really stuck with me because I have a friend that went through school that had that problem. Now because of that he went to the GED class where they have literacy programs that helped him overcome that. That was inspiring to me a lot to now help others with the same problem and be able to direct them to the people that can help overcome that. Another story that I liked was the one about the boy who didn't have a father and he had to work when he was young so he could look like the others kids in his class so that they didn't look at him different. Those two stories where one main ones that caught my eye and I am glad that I had the opportunity to be in class when we read them. I have never thought that I had strengths but one that I do poses is that I never give up on anything. I have in the past but since then I have been getting my life back together by going back to school and getting a better job. Another one that I think that i poses is determination that I have for everything that I try. I try at least to finish everything that I start. Someone close to me once told me that I wasn't going to amount to anything in life and when he told me that, that is exactly what I did I through my life away but now when I think about that that is my determination for me. For me to make my life better and to show everybody that I am someone, I deserve a better life and that i can do it. Me as a learner I think that I need to work on all of my skills as a student but the worst one is that I don't have time to do homework and when I have time I spend it on stupid things that I shouldn't. All my time revolves around school, work and it seems that I spend more time at work than I do at school. When I look at other learners i wish i had their intelligence and their study habits because my study habits are a little weak right now. The task that takes up most of my time is math I don't like math at all. I think that math is going to need a little more help than any other weakness even though I am not going to major in math but I do need to finish my general ed so I can get my bachelors in Law. To tell you the truth I didn't think that I was going to learn anything from this class, but I was wrong about that. I have learned about binge drinking and what to do in situations that need some medical assistance.I have also learned how to use the online database resources which include citing papers, and how to search for information about a certain topic for any class that needs research. Another one is that I found out that Butler has a site that is called the O.W.L which is teachers online that review students papers and give them tips on how to make there paper better. The most important thing that i realized is that i grew up, became more organized and responsible for me to succeed in my studies. I judged this the most important because I need to succeed in school and for me to better my life. The most important skill that I learned was to be organized with my studies. This skill is important to me because if I don't organize then my grade point average would be lower and my homework will never be done. I thought that the course assignments were pretty easy for us to write about. The topics were broad for instance you could write about anything in the subject that interested you and your opinion about the topic. The activity that I thought was relevant to my life was the one about discover.Discover is a program where you find what studies you are interested in. I didn't think any of our assignments, projects, or class activities were irrelevant to me. As a learner I thought that this course was a really good learning experience for me and all the other students as well. I didn't think that we need to drop anything I thought everything that we did in class was good learning for us. All the different topics that we talked about and wrote in our blogs about were really good topic. As a student in the class I thought you taught the class well and taught us all a lot of things that we didn't know, but that is my opinion. To tell you the truth I don't think you need to take my advice about how to change the course. The course is great for all students to take so they can learn new things about the school. For the students that are going to take the class all I want to tell you is do your work like the blog that you might be doing so that you don't fall behind in class. I think I know what I am talking about because that is what happened to me and I had to do it before class and that is not good. That just shows how much of a slacker I am. The three things that I think would help you keep your sanity in the class is get involved in the class discussions like voice your opinion about what you are talking about that day. Another one is listen to what your teacher has to say and remember all the things she said are important to know because teachers say things that later on in life are going to be mean something to you in the future and be important to you at that time. The last one is just go to class knowing you are going to have fun and let everything else go. The words that I would write on a sign and put it on the top of the desk in bold letters is HAVE FUN. I think the experience that I have learned in this class are going to follow me in every move I make towards my school and my work. The one thing that I would do differently in school is getting better with my study habits because right now they are just getting me by and in the future I am really going to need to be great at it because of my major. In my job I am really going to need to be organized because if I am not then as a lawyer my desk and office are going to be covered with files and paperwork of cases. When I am a lawyer I don't think that is going to look good when I am an hour late because I couldn't find the case that I need to present for the judge. In life I am going to stay the exact same other than me being more organized and responsible. One last thing I wanted to share was that you were the best teacher and the most interesting one at that. The course and how you taught us was great and I hope you had a lot of fun with the students in our class.
